Researchers at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center are studying how cancer cells change when they spread, or metastasize. Metastasis is responsible for more than 90% of cancer deaths. Dr. Karuna Ganesh and her team are focusing on finding out what distinguishes metastatic cancer cells from regular tumor cells.

Scientists at MSK are also examining difficult-to-treat brain cancer called glioblastoma, and how stem cell plasticity is believed to be the cause. Their team has published study that identifies a potential suspect: radial glia cells.
