US Preventative Services Task Force Lowers the Recommended Age for CRC Screenings from 50 to 45
Because Lynch Syndrome carriers have a significantly increased risk of colorectal cancer, it’s important to remember that general guidelines for LS carriers recommend colonoscopy screenings every year, starting as early as age 20. Always consult with your genetic counselor/physician to discuss the recommendations for your specific gene mutation, medical and family cancer history.
As of May 18, 2021, the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) formally recommended reducing the colorectal screening age to 45 for those at average risk of colorectal cancer! This will save many lives and provide important access to earlier screening.
