Previvor Focusing on Health and Wellness
By Jessica Storey
My Lynch Syndrome journey started back in 2018 when my father was diagnosed with colorectal cancer and Lynch Syndrome. After his diagnoses I was then tested and found out that I too have the same mutation as my father on my PMS2 gene. This is when I really started to focus on my health and wellness and started my proactive health journey as a Lynch Syndrome previvor. Along with the most important proactive action of colorectal cancer screening, I have also starting working out 5-6 times per week, eating a more balanced diet and cutting out processed meat with a limitation of red meat and meat in general. Yes, the odds are slighting not in my favor but I made a choice to take preventative action and take my health into my own hands. I have chosen to take action, be positive and most importantly be proactive. Don't approach life's challenges by being reactive, be proactive. Prepare for the possibilities and give yourself the best fighting chance possible.
